Several years ago I met Ron Golden at one of Ron's player and parent summer baseball instructional camps in Columbus, Ohio. My son was eight years old and just starting youth league baseball. Like most loving parents, I wanted the best for my son by giving him as many tools and quality information as possible. My son and I learned a great deal and had a lot of fun at the weekend camp. I signed up the following year for the parent and son weekend and for a week long youth camp for just my son. Sitting up in the stadium seating area, I watched how Ron Golden taught the game of baseball and how well his students did under his instruction. |
 |
I asked Ron the following year if he had a video or DVD on the basics that is the foundation for all his youth, teen and adult baseball training camps. Ron did not have one but was receptive to the idea of making one. |
Ron and I then met for a series of constructive head churning and decided to try something new by creating an interactive DVD that would be aimed at the player as well as the coach and the parent. The following principles guided this project:
|
RON GOLDEN'S BASEBALL BASICS on DVD |
-
All students of the game (player, parent & coach) of all ages should be able to watch, memorize and learn from this DVD.
-
The DVD must be straight forward and not overpower the viewer with complicated explanations -- KEEP IT SIMPLE.
-
The DVD must be interactive by subject chapter (e.g. catchers can watch CATCHING, pitchers watch PITCHING, etc.)
-
Players must be able to practice the instructional drills, either on their own or with parents and friends, using items and objects easily found around the home or local hardware store.
-
Information and drills must be conducive for year-round use that can be done inside or outside the home.
-
The DVD when viewed on a computer must interact with RON GOLDEN'S INSTRUCTIONAL BASEBALL SCHOOL website.
-
The DVD must include safety tips and proper equipment use.
-
The DVD will avoid fillers and non-purpose instruction.
